Zan Silar demonstrated exceptional athletic and leadership talent as a two-sport star for the Falcons. He was one of the tri-captains for the Falcon football squad that secured a Fenwick-best seven wins in 1967. For his efforts, the two-way performer garnered first team honors on the all Mid Miami League team. Zan also received the Armco Award as the Falcons outstanding senior football player.

On the track, Zan set individual Falcon records in the high and low hurdles that stand to this day. As a senior, Zan advanced the Fenwick colors to the State track meet where he finished fourth in the 110 yard high hurdles with a time of 14.7 seconds. In doing so, he became the first Falcon to score team points at the State Meet.
