Paul Ottke is honored as a true pioneer in Fenwick athletics as a member of the first Falcon baseball teams. As a junior in 1959, he pitched a no-hitter in the very first game in Fenwick baseball history. Paul proceeded to pitch in every game that first year, never allowing more than two hits per outing, en route to a 7-2 record. He also played first base, and compiled a batting average over .300 for the year.
Paul was slowed by injury the following year, but still managed to pitch another no-hitter and a near no-hitter. Once again, he compiled a batting average over .300. This winner of the Armco Sportsmanship Trophy in 1960 helped launch a rich Falcons baseball tradition in memorable fashion. |
