Bob Schwab was a rare four-year starter as an offensive and defensive tackle for the Falcons. His bruising line play is credited with opening many gapping holes for Falcons teammate Fred Nori, and he was an unstoppable force on defense, showing rare quickness for his size.

"The Bopper" received State and national recognition for his grid exploits and was a highly recruited college prospect; among the first Fenwick athletes to receive such attention. As a senior, he was honored as Fenwick's "Catholic Athlete of the Year". Bob returned to Fenwick spending many years as an assistant football coach to Jerry Harkrader and Dick Martin. He has been Fenwick's head football coach since 1993.

According to the Butler Country Sports Hall of Fame:
Schwab has dedicated his life to family, football, and Fenwick High School.

The 1961 graduate of Fenwick, was an all-state performer for the Falcons on the gridiron. He also won all-league honors, was selected to the Parade All-American team and in 1961 was chosen Catholic Athlete of the Year.

After continuing his career at the University of Dayton, Schwab served as a valued assistant for the Falcons before becoming head coach.

Schwab and his wife Karen, are parents of three and live in Middletown. -- printed from the Middletown Journal November 10, 1999.
